After Hours

Join us on the last Tuesday of the month for live music and dancing, with extended hours in the galleries, Bistro, and SHOP! Each month features a different musical genre and style, so you can listen to new sounds and learn new moves. Relax and just enjoy the music, or join in on the dance floor!

  • Enjoy dinner at Bistro, featuring a special evening menu with beer, wine, and themed cocktails. Food and beverage are available for purchase inside the restaurant and outside at our cashless bars. Members receive a 10% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Explore our current exhibitionsin the galleries, with hours extended to 7 pm.
  • Treasure hunt in the Museum SHOP – Members receive a 10% discount.
  • Dress to impress for our themed costume contest (select nights only). The grand prize winner will receive one free year of SAM Membership!

As this reduces our seating capacity, we ask that you please notify us in advance if you would like to cancel your ticket — or you may cancel it directly through Eventbrite.

Seating will be available in McGuire Hall and Bistro on a first-come, first-served basis.

Check-in begins at 4:30 pm (earlier entry will not be permitted), and the Bistro/bars and seating open at 5 pm.
For guest safety, personal chairs are not permitted on-site

Food and Beverage are available for purchase on-site through the Bistro. Please refrain from bringing outside food and beverage.

About The Derek Lersch Band
Derek Lersch is a national touring country artist based out of Bradenton, FL. With a passion for music and a drive to succeed, Derek began performing for his family at the young age of three and has now performed over 600 shows in last couple years. Derek and his band hit the road hard traveling over 60,000 miles, playing in 24 states and even Canada. He has shared the stage with Machine Gun Kelly and Jessie Murph, opened for acts like Rodney Atkins, David Nail, and Jay Allen, as well as performed at Raymond James Stadium and Amalie Arena. Derek thrives on the big stage.

About Soul Sensations

Soul Sensations are all established professionals who have come together to join talents, skills and hearts to bring you the best of the Golden Age of Rhythm and Blues music that America has given the world. In addition, our musicians are consummate professionals. Having traveled the world, been conservatory trained and/or played along with some of the biggest names in the music business, they bring a professional deportment on and off stage, along with being individuals of respectable character.

About Strings of the Season

Strings of the Season is a string quartet ensemble featuring local players from Sarasota and Tampa. The members of this group are regular performers in the major orchestras of the region, familiar faces to our local arts scene and patrons. Working together frequently for such events as fundraisers, weddings, and corporate parties, our musicians are both friends and colleagues, adept at sharing the joy of music with each other and our audiences.

About The Jazz Phools

The Jazz Phools are a group of Tampa Bay musicians devoted to the energetic performance of hot jazz of the 20s and 30s, Dixieland and New Orleans jazz, and swing standards – all delivered with vintage flair. Dancers will delight in the stylistic diversity of the band and irresistible dance rhythms. Improvisation and the interplay among The Jazz Phools members makes the music come alive with spontaneity and excitement. The tradition of hot jazz continues with The Jazz Phools!

About The Band Trinity

The Band Trinity was formed in Naples, Florida in 2007 for the love of Irish music. Members are Peter Michael Heaney, Paul Hartigan, and Rob Koch. Peter and Paul are both from Ireland, County Down and County Galway, respectively. In Ireland, Peter performed in a rock band and his background is rich not only with Irish tunes and songs but with contemporary music of the 60s and 70s. Paul has played traditional musical experience all his life and brings his knowledge of the Irish way to the band. Rob, a classically trained violinist, heard about the local “sessions” and has found playing Irish fiddle to be both fun and rewarding. With a focus on both Irish and Contemporary music, The Band Trinity is inspired by a classic Irish sound and loves the opportunity to put an Irish twist on contemporary songs.

About Chrome ‘57

The Chrome ’57 Band is a 50s band, Oldies band, Sock Hop Band, Beach Band, Surf Band and Doo Wop band in Orlando, FL. Reliable, polished and professional, they’re the ultimate party band that keeps your dance floor packed. Band leader and trumpet player Mark, vocalist Kathy, and the Chrome ‘57 Band take you back in time with high energy and interactive dance hits that keep your guests rockin’ and a-rollin.’ They play your favorite hits from the 50s and 60s including “Shake, Rattle, & Roll”, “Rock Around the Clock”, “It’s My Party”, “At the Hop”, “Shout”, “Hound Dog”, and group dances like “The Stroll.” 

About Old Time Sailors

The Old Time Sailors are a 20-piece Shanty live music show traveling around the world. They invite you to board the Sailorette and join their plentiful crew for a night of foot stomping, dancing and singing! You will sail back to the 19th century for an immersive experience of traditional seafaring music performed in a way you’ve never seen before. The Motley Crew and their plethora of traditional and eclectic instruments will take you back to the time of clashing tankards and drunken debauchery. Sing and dance along as the band perform centuries old folk and shanty songs. Fancy dress is encouraged, so pull out your best seafaring garments!
