in Sarasota High School Alumni Auditorium

Join us for an artist talk with Selina Román inspired by her exhibition, Abstract Corpulence. Hear directly from the artist about her creative journey and the influences that have helped shape this highly personal body of work, which blends photography, abstraction, and self-portraiture. Román will also discuss the exhibition and its aesthetics of femininity within the larger contexts of art history and pop culture.

1-2 PM | Silvia Barisione Opening Day Talk in the Sarasota High School Alumni Auditorium at SAM

Join Silvia Barisione, Chief Curator at The Wolfsonian–FIU in Miami, for a talk on the birth and rise of the Art Deco movement. Learn about the cultural and industrial changes that shaped 1920s Paris and propelled the spread of Art Deco aesthetics around the world. Barisione will highlight classic examples of Art Deco design from several countries, including objects on loan from The Wolfsonian and posters and 3D works from the Crouse Collection.
