Lieven De Boeck: The World as Museum

Friday, December 1

Free for All

Sarasota High School Alumni Auditorium | Sarasota Art Museum

Join us for an insightful presentation by artist and architect Lieven De Boeck on his project that engages with the work of Brazilian artist Hélio Oiticica (1937-1980). De Boeck will present Parangolé, Capa 22, Xoxoba, a re-enactment and copy of Oiticica’s work, with a series of questions written to the late artist about his series of wearable artworks. These questions are the basis for the costumes and performance of De Boeck’s own work, the parade, What’s Going On?

After the screening, there will be an open discussion with the students from Ringling College of Art and Design, who will share about their experiences participating in the process of bringing the parade to life by making costumes for it.
