Sarasota Art Museum Announces Fall Education Programs

Registration for studio arts classes opens Aug. 16

SARASOTA, Fla. (Aug. 16, 2022)- Sarasota Art Museum is pleased to announce new fall education programs, including studio arts courses and drop-in studio programs for early learners, preschool and elementary-school-aged children, and their families. Registration for fall studio classes opens Aug. 16. Sarasota Art Museum is a platform for education, exposure, and experimentation and offers robust education programs for all ages. Fall studio classes are offered for kids and adults of all abilities. Classes on drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, creative writing, and more are offered after school, evenings, or weekends. Courses are held in the Paul Rudolph Vocational Shops building, which includes the Peggy A. Hall painting and drawing studio, the Sarah F. Huisking tabletop studio, and the Linda & Dick Dickinson ceramics studio with eight wheels and three kilns.

Research supports the value of arts exposure and education during early childhood, according to a literature review conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts. This fall, Sarasota Art Museum offers two new drop-in programs for children and their caregivers to explore and engage in artistic learning together.

Your Wednesday Playdate begins Sept. 7, offered weekly on Wednesdays from 10 am – 12 pm. For early learners from ages 2 – 5 with an adult, Your Wednesday Playdates deliver an art project led by a professional teaching artist, interactive story times, and guided tours.
Saturday Studios begins Sept. 10, offered weekly on Saturdays from 1 – 3 pm. Saturday Studios are inspired by works of art in Sarasota Art Museum’s special exhibitions. These drop-in studio workshops are designed to serve children from preschool through 10 years of age as well as their families and caregivers.

Drop-in studio programs (Your Wednesday Playdate and Saturday Studios) are included with Museum admission and free to Members.
